Exciting developments at our town centre base
News from: Reading Voluntary Action (RVA)
by Hazel Broad (Deputy Director RVA)
If you've read our latest Volunteer Centre news item Volunteer recruitment online you will know that there are major IT developments afoot to help us deliver the service more effectively. However, this does not signal a move away from the provision of high quality face-to-face services at Cross Street.
The enhancements to our volunteering service are at the heart of plans in RVA to reshape the way we offer all our services to the voluntary sector and to the community at large. As part of this we are planning a complete revamp of our facilities at Cross Street to make them more welcoming and much more flexible, as well as improvements to what we can offer online to support the voluntary and community sector beyond the improved volunteer recruitment capability already mentioned.
The IT work is already underway and we’ve decided to kick off the physical work during Get Involved READING from 12 March – see www.rvadirectory.org.uk/event/20110312/get-involved-reading-day-one It will be ‘all hands on deck’ for our existing staff and volunteer team and we’ll need to make some new friends too (whether they are good at data entry or with a paintbrush or screwdriver).
There will be lots of exciting change for us at Cross Street over the coming weeks and months – so watch this space!
