SAKOMA means "Togetherness" in Sierra Leone. SAKOMA is the network for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) voluntary and community groups in Reading

SAKOMA supports existing and emerging BME community groups within Greater Reading by providing networking, training, events, advice and information.

SAKOMA Executive Committee vacancy 
SAKOMA would like to invite nominations from one of its member groups to fill the vacancy that has arisen on the SAKOMA Executive committee. What is SAKOMA?

SAKOMA provides:

  • ONE VOICE : A challenging and coherent voice for the BME communities in Reading>
  • SUPPORT : Support within an environment of hope, confidence, acceptance and praise
  • PRACTICAL HELP : A source of practical support
  • REPRESENTATION: Representation on relevant statutory forums and strategic partnerships to ensure the BME voice is heard
  • RECOGNITION: Recognition of the achievements of individuals and groups

SAKOMA is part of the Stronger Together consortium of Fora (including The Forum, Reading Faith Forum and RCVYS  in addition to Reading Voluntary Action) that ensures that the voluntary and community sector is able to influence strategic decision-making.

Membership is open to any ethnic minority community organisation interested in furthering the work of SAKOMA.
